Red face

I got several packages from AG today. I ordered Molly and Samantha's mystery books and I added in a short story book in each order to make the total over $10. I ordered Addy's Little Brother and Samantha's Winter Party. I was really looking forword to reading Addy's book b/c I really enjoy her stories. I was so disappointed. It took me only about 10-15 minutes to read and there really wasn't much of a story to it. It definetly wasn't worth $3.95. I remember when these books first came out. I was very happy that they did because I remember when I was growing up I always wished the dolls had more books than just 6 each. I really hope the other short stories are better... maybe I just read a "bad" (lack of a better word) one. Does anybody else feel the same way? I was going to order a few more with the code, but now I don't think I will. Are they all like this or just this one?

I just wanted to add one more thing...

Does anybody else remember when AG magazine first came out and they had short stories about the dolls in them? Are any of those stories them same as these books? I still have the magazines... I think I'm going to look if nobody else knows. I sure hope I didn't just buys books of stories I already have!

I think it's just that one book in particular, but that's just my opinion.

Ok, I am going to answer my own question. I have magazine from 1994-95. Here are the titles of the stories:
Mother's New Baby (Felicity)
Snowbound (Kirsten)
No One Could Be Prouder (Molly)
Felicity's Dancing Shoes
Kirsten's New Teacher
The Beautiful New Bicycle (Sam.)

A couple of the stories in the magazine are excerts from Addy's books (this is when Addy was first released). It looks like Felicity's Dancing Shoes, Snowbound, The Beautiful New Bicycle, and No One Could be Prouder (aka Molly Marches On) are all reprints. Are there any others? When did AG stop publishing stories about the dolls in the Magazine?

I'm not sure. I wasn't an AG fan until '98.

Those titles/stories sound like reprints of the stories that were in the magazine.

They are reprints from the magazine, when they used to feature American Girl stories. I remember reading Samantha's Winter Party, Molly at the Movies, and Felicity takes a Dare. There is little doubt in my mind that the other short stories are taken from the magazine... hence why most of the older girls have short stories... while the newer ones have few to none.

Most of the short stories come from the AG Magazine. They have different titles and sometimes the illustrations have been changed to reflect the outfit that comes with it. I like all of Kirsten's stories except Kirsten and the New Girl but my favorite has yet to be put in book format-Kirsten and the Thief.

Kit and Kaya's stories are new
All of Felicity, Sam and Molly's stories were in the magazine
Not sure about Josefina but I think at least one or two were in the magazine
Addy's Summer Place is new

The short stories are definitely short. As an adult, they do not do too much for me. My daughter (4th grade) really likes to read and re-read them and we have done some of the craft ideas at the end of the short stories. The short stories are good for beginning readers who can finish them quickly.

I liked them a lot more when I was in third and fourth grade.
